Born in February 1, 1973 in the small town of Yoakum TX. Son of a Baptist Preacher who grew up in the Church. At the age of 7yrs old Fernando accepted Jesus as his personal Savior. In his teen years, and a sophomore in high school he put his faith into action by being one of the founding members of “Lions for Christ”. This was a prayer service before school in his high school gym. The purpose was to pray for students, teachers, and school leaders. Pastor Charles Began his call to ministry in 1996 at Primera Church of San Angelo, TX. He was active in the music ministry of the church as Assistant Praise Team Leader, and also was Assistant Young Married Couples Sunday School teacher. Feeling God’s call to Youth Ministry Pastor Charles in 2000 accepted a call to Primera Iglesia Bautista in San Marcos, TX as Youth Pastor. During his time in San Marcos, Pastor Charles in 2001 felt God’s call to study God’s Word and enrolled and was accepted at Baptist University of the Americas to study God’s word and learn how to minister to young people who are the Church Of NOW. As a fulltime student Pastor Charles participated in many conferences, one in which was his favorite Youth Ministry Conclave Conference. In the same Year he accepted the call to Youth Pastor at Primera Iglesia Bautista in San Antonio, TX under the Leadership of Pastor Alfonzo Flores. In 2002 Pastor Charles accepted the Youth Pastor position at A New Beginning Community Baptist Church, San Antonio, TX under the Leadership of Pastor Robert Lopez. In 2003 Pastor Charles accepted the Associate Pastor / Ministry Leader for the College and Career Ministry at Mustard Seed Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Samuel Espinoza. During this time Pastor Charles assisted Mustard Seed merge with Kingsborough Ridge Baptist Church. In 2005 Pastor Charles accepted call to Central Baptist Church, in downtown San Antonio, TX as Senior Pastor. During Pastor Charles’ time at Central he saw how God could help a church grow. In 2007 Pastor Charles graduated from Baptist University of the Americas with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology, and a minor in Youth Ministry. In April of 2014 Pastor Charles Accepted a position at the Texas Department Of Criminal Justice as the head Chaplain over the Ruben Torres and Joe Ney Units, leading men to know and have a relationship with a God Who loves them. 2016 Pastor Charles moved over to parole and learned the parole side of TDCJ. November of 2016 Pastor Charles started a new position as Chaplain for Qualfon, a telemarketing firm in San Antonio. A great company based out of Mexico City. February of 2017 Pastor Fernando and Olga Charles started a Non-Profit Orginization, Free By The Truth Ministry, helping men and women coming out of prison. God is using the Charles family to share the love of Jesus with everyone they meet.
