Real Love, Who Wants It? Part II “To Love, To Be Loved”

To Love, to Be Loved

17-18 God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we’re free of worry on Judgment Day—our standing in the world is identical with Christ’s. There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love.

19 We, though, are going to love—love and be loved. First we were loved, now we love. He loved us first.

20-21 If anyone boasts, “I love God,” and goes right on hating his brother or sister, thinking nothing of it, he is a liar. If he won’t love the person he can see, how can he love the God he can’t see? The command we have from Christ is blunt: Loving God includes loving people. You’ve got to love both.

When you get to know me, you will find that my heart’s desire is to love.  I’m the loving type of person that can be a little too much for some people.  If you ever met me before you will know that you will not just get a hand shake from me or just a fist bump, but you will get a hug too.  I was taught at an early age how to love and how to show love for others, no matter what they have done to me.  I have shown love to people who have been ugly to me and those who have wronged me.  When I look at Jesus and his way to the cross, they pull out his beard from his face, they beat him till he bled, they pulled his hair.  In all, they literally abused Jesus in the worst of ways and that was his journey to the cross.  Then on the cross he was nailed to the tree, a huge stake in each hand and one in both of his feet.  Then to top it all off they pierced his side with a spear.  So he was bleeding from all over.  YET!  From that cross he loved all of those who were harming him,  but yet he Loved.  “God is Love”,  sometimes I get so angry when I’m accused of something I have not done, or angry when I have been wronged, also angry when my enemy has come down on me.  But in my Journey with God, I know how to love.  You see there is nothing we should fear, nothing that will ever take us away from God.  If we cant love each other and  say we love God, then as the scripture says, “We are LIARS”,  therefore God does not live in us”.  Sometimes when things happen to me I stay quiet, allowing all to happen around me, I have learned that if i remain in God, he will remain in me.  John 15:5.  Today i want to love just like Jesus loved.  Even though all this was happening to him, he always loved and had his mind on us all the way to the cross.

Pray :  Lord I pray that what ever I face today or any day, I know I should not fear. You are my greatest example, that  you fill my heart with love.  Because God you are love and in you, there is hope.  Amen.

Ask, Seek, Knock!

Matthew 7:7 (NIV)

7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

I always tell my Daughter that when she makes good grades. to be sure to show me what grades she received so that I can reward her for her hard work.  But it never fails she always shows everyone else except me, So she misses the opportunity to receive her reward.   My wife will show me later or tell me of her excellent grades and we will reward her for that.  But it got me to thinking that’s how we are spiritually speaking with God.  We miss so many opportunities because we don’t ask.   God wants to give us the desire of our hearts.  Psalm 37:4, “Take delight in the Lord,  and he will give you the desires of your heart.”  Yes “Delight yourself in the Lord.  Why is the word “Delight” used here?  This word means to “take great pleasure”, it’s like those of us who “Delight” in Chocolate.  Yes chocolate, it is soooo good that when we eat it, it is like all has stopped because it bring us pleasure to eat it.  This is how David is trying to describe God, when we feel God’s presence, when we think of God, when we talk to God, we should “Delight” in him, in his love, in everything that we do.  And not ever miss any opportunities to ask, seek, and knock at the heart of God.   Today, whatever it is that’s burdening your heart, whatever it is that’s making you happy, bring it all to the feet of Jesus.  Know  that God takes care of his children and is there waiting to have a great relationship with him.  Ask and you shall receive the blessings from the Lord.

Psalm 133 (NIV)

A song of ascents. Of David.

1 How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!

2 Corinthians 13:11 (MSG)

11-13 And that’s about it, friends. Be cheerful. Keep things in good repair. Keep your spirits up. Think in harmony. Be agreeable. Do all that, and the God of love and peace will be with you for sure. Greet one another with a holy embrace. All the brothers and sisters here say hello.

There are many things that all the characters in the Bible had in common.  For King David and Paul there was one thing in particular, this was “Unity”.  What is Unity?  Unity is being one, or being in one accord, or being in harmony.  You can also say, being one or many parts coming together for a common purpose.  As Children of God we are called to be united, working together to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ.  David tells us that this pleases God.  I can see it so plainly, our life, our walk, our Journey With God should always show that he lives in us.  Remember “with out him we can do nothing.”  John 15:5

The Apostol Paul tells us to be “Cheerful”, and aim for perfection.  Now we are not perfect but we should strive for it.  One who is dis-unified is not striving for perfection.  He also says to “Think in Harmony”, and be “Agreeable”.  If one of us is outside of harmony and is not agreeable, then we are not Unified.  As Christians we are to be One!  Galatians 3:28 says, “In Christ’s family there can be no division into Jew and non-Jew, slave and free, male and female. Among us you are all equal. That is, we are all in a common relationship with Jesus Christ. Also, since you are Christ’s family, then you are Abraham’s famous “descendant,” heirs according to the covenant promises.

Today let God speak to your heart in how he wants you to serve others, this brings us closer to him and to ourselves.

Pray:  God open my heart in serving those who need you most.  Open my eyes to see the needs in others, and my ears to hear the hurting.  Today don’t let the the devil steel our Joy.  Cause our Joy comes from you and you alone.  Thank you for your word.  Help me t know you more.
