Ephesians 3:14-19 (MSG)
My response is to get down on my knees before the Father, this magnificent Father who parcels out all heaven and earth. I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit—not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength—that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in. And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you’ll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God.
This last week was a real test for my fiance and me. We are getting ready to become husband and wife we can not wait for that day to come. We are planing, saving money, creating guest lists and everything else that goes with planing a wedding, then, when out of no where my truck dies on me. My transmission was blown, what a huge and expensive expense we would have to make to fix my truck. My reaction was typical…. UTTER PANIC!!! Money was already tight and now this. In our marriage conference we attended we learned about situations like this would arise. We had leaned in the financial portion of the conference that we should set aside an emergency fund. Well we did that but we had no where near what we needed for the truck. I was so worried on how I was going get this fixed. I knew I didn’t have the money, I knew I didn’t have the know how of how to fix it. All I could think about was how My hands were tied. Noticed the bold letters, yes all I was thinking of was Me, me, me! After a few days of bumping my head on things I could not change, I realized I needed to go to God cause we found ourselves in a situation where we had no other place to turn to. God opened doors and sent people to us who helped us. We were so thankful to the brothers and sisters of the church who came to our rescue. On Sunday morning everything was put into perspective for me. I learned that God is there for us and he knows what we are going through. And when he comes to us we should answer him not with excuses but with understanding that he is willing to meet us where we are. We sang in worship the song titled, “Forever Reign”. It was in this song as we were worshiping that I grabbed my pen and wrote on my hand this statement: “Today I’m letting go of what is happening in me and around me, and letting God have all of me and all that is around me.” The song say, “You are good, you are love, you are light, you are hope, you are peace, you are true, you are joy, you are life, you are more, you are Lord, you are here, you are God. The enemy tries to put in our minds that there is no good in us, no love, no light, no hope, no peace, no truth, no joy and no life. But God is all these things, and he is never dimmed out by our situations, our responses, or the doubts we have. God is Love! 1 John 4:8, “My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God. The person who refuses to love doesn’t know the first thing about God, because God is love—so you can’t know him if you don’t love. This is how God showed his love for us: God sent his only Son into the world so we might live through him. This is the kind of love we are talking about—not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they’ve done to our relationship with God.”
Today if you’re struggling with situations in your life I pray you do as I did and go quickly to God and his word for direction when you face things that seem to huge for life. Also, go to a christian brother or sister so they can be praying with you also. 2 Thessalonians 1:3-4, “You need to know, friends, that thanking God over and over for you is not only a pleasure; it’s a must. We have to do it. Your faith is growing phenomenally; your love for each other is developing wonderfully. Why, it’s only right that we give thanks. We’re so proud of you; you’re so steady and determined in your faith despite all the hard times that have come down on you. We tell everyone we meet in the churches all about you.” Today pray, tomorrow pray! Pray in all things, for all things, even when things are going well.
Pray: God thank you for your blessings. I know sometimes things happen and I think I lose all control. Help me to remember that you are the one in control and not me. You are Good, you are Peace and I need that in my life. My heart will sing no other name. I’m running to you my God, my Savior and nothing comepares to you. Amen.
