Praise You In This Storm

Ephesians 3:20 (MSG)

God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.

Glory to God in the church!  Glory to God in the Messiah, in Jesus!  Glory down all the generations!  Glory through all millennia! Oh, yes!

I’ve been watching the new’s last couple of days about Hurricane Sandy.  I have been praying ever since it was far away from us.  People have lost their lives, their homes, their belongings.  It’s a story no one wants to hear, and I can never imagine how that feeling is.  But there is one thing that is for sure “God Can Do Anything”.   He can take the darkest and ugliest situations and bring brightness to us.  Jesus reminds us of how powerful his Father is in Luke 1:37 AMP, “For with God nothing is ever impossible”  To all of you who have been displaced by this storm I am praying for you and your families.  My readers are praying for you as well.  God has many reasons for the things we go through, but because we serve the most powerful God, he can give us such great peace to whether any storm.  Today no mater what you face know That there is nothing to great for God.

My Prayer for the victims of Hurricane Sandy:  Father God I lift up those to you affected by this storm that has come.  Show the whole world your Grace and Mercy.  Help those who has lost so much.  Father take their pain and and bring your loving brightness into their life.  Show them how powerful you really can be in their life.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Jesus Is The Way To The Father!

John 14:6 (GW)

Jesus answered him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one goes to the Father except through me.

This weekend we attended at North Side Community Church in San Antonio and had a wonderful time with our Brothers and Sisters there.  On the way home I had a wonderful discussion about God.  The subject is one I’m most passionate about, and it is how we come to the Father.  In our scripture today the disciple Thomas asks Jesus this question in verse 5, “Lord we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way.”  Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me”.  Period!  God’s word is easy to understand, with out Jesus we can not come to God because sin seperates us from him.  We must remember that John 3:16 is very important.  It says, “For God so loved the world, he gave his only son, that whosoever believes in him will have everlasting LIFE”.  Therefore, Jesus is the only way, the only truth and the only Life.  He gave His life so that we can live a life with the Father and not die a death because of Sin.  Jesus saves us from hell because we have allowed him to come in to our heart and to guide our life.  Friends the best thing we can ever do is give our life to the one who gave his.  Today, know that when  God calls us home and when we close our eyes here on this earth our new life in heaven awaits.

Pray:  Dear God, thank you for the salvation you have given me, it is the best gift I have ever received.  Help me today to allow you to take me to new places as I walk with you.  On My Journey With You, I plan to serve others along the way.  Today let me share with some one how you came in and changed my life.  Amen.

Love you my Beautiful Daughter,  Jennifer!

If you have not asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior Pray:  “Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

The Devil Never Sleeps!

1 Peter 5:8-9 (NIV)

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

When your driving, your alert, when your working with power tools your alert.  Being alert is a highest sense of  awareness.  When driving we watch out on the road to drive safely.  When working with power tools you really don’t want to cut off a finger.  Being sober is on top of being alert it’s another level being clear minded.  The scripture is telling us we should be this way at all time.  Why?  Because the devil prowls around like a roaring lion.  Did you know lions are nocturnal, they are awake when everything else is sleeping.  Peter is telling us to be ready because “The Devil Never Sleeps”.  My brothers and sisters resist him Peter says, by standing firm in the Faith.  Study the word, pray for one another because we are all struggling and we need each other.  Don’t let him steal your joy or tell you lies.  Remember, allow Jesus to come in to your life and allow him to guide you everyday. Today resist the Devil and he will flee.

Pray:  Dear Father, keep me alert, and sober-minded.  Help me to never be clouded by anything but being alert and ready to dodge the fiery arrows of the evil one.  Guide me and direct me today in Jesus name.  Amen.

Doing The Right Thing When It’s Hard!

We Are Free

Romans 7:18-25 (NLT)

18 And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t. 19 I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway. 20 But if I do what I don’t want to do, I am not really the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it.

21 I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. 22 I love God’s law with all my heart. 23 But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. 24 Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? 25 Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.

We are human we struggle with doing the right thing all the time.  The apostale Paul knew this well, in  his writing he writes about  himself.  there is this struggle with in us, the nature of sin and to do what is good.  It is so easy to point the finger to others, when we are the ones who are messing up.  I have always said the best way to live is to follow God as if he is coming today.  What does that mean?  Well it means that every second of the day I need to be focused on God more than anything else.  If I take my eyes off of him then I lose the battle.  Paul says in verse 25, “Thank God, the answer is in Jesus Christ.”  You see Christ is the one who breaks us free from sin, his death on the cross defeats sin and allows us to live in heaven with our Heavenly Father.  Today do what is right even when you face the hardest thing.  When I was in seminary I knew of someone who was cheating on an exam.  I struggled with if I should say something.  There was this small voice in my heart saying, “do the right thing”.  I went to my professor and shared with him my suspicions, and explained to him how hard it was for me to do that.  I will never forget what he said.  “Fernando, you are not telling on him you are teaching him to do the right thing”.  I was floored because I never thought of it that way.  I thought I was doing the ugliest thing to someone, but I wasn’t I was helping shape him to be a better follower of Christ.  Do what is right thing today, stay focused on God he will lead you to a new direction.

Pray:  God thank you for leading me the way you want me to go.  Today I pray you help me to do the right thing even when it’s hard.  Fill me with your love and use me to tell others about you and how you changed my life.  Amen!

Psalm 37:7 (MSG)

Quiet down before God, be prayerful before him.  Don’t bother with those who climb the ladder, who elbow their way to the top.

When I was in Seminary there were a lot of nights that I was up late studying for an exam, or writing a paper, or reading.  Studying at home was hard with all the noises around.  The noises from the kitchen, the noise from the TV, the noise from the kids rooms and the list could go on.  Many times I would study late after everyone was sleeping to take advantage of the quietness of it all.  This was when it was my time to really study well.  Psalms tells us “Quiet down before God.”  I asked myself “why”?  When we are quiet before God all of our attention is on him, listening, seeing, feeling his presence in our life.  In our life we try to move up in our life, we want the best, not only for us but for our children and families.  Sometimes we see others around us who seem to be doing better and we feel left out.  But I say Be Patient on God.  Psalm 27:14, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” God is our Rock, Our Salvation.  His timing is always the best.  Today, if you are like me and you see others around you doing better than your, or in your work you feel as if you are being passed up, know that God has something Great in store for you.  God is wonderfully good, he wants the best for you and me, he wants to prosper you build you a beautiful future, not to harm you or hurt you in any way but to move you in the way he has for you.   Wait on him, allow God to guide you in his timing and God will direct your every step.

Pray:  God today help me to be quiet and listen for your voice, to see with spiritual eyes, and to feel you in my life.  You God are my Rock, My Salvation and it is in you I put all my faith, love and devotion.

Serving With Your Heart!

Luke 10:29-37 (MSG)

Looking for a loophole, he asked, “And just how would you define ‘neighbor’?  Jesus answered by telling a story. “There was once a man traveling from Jerusalem to Jericho. On the way he was attacked by robbers. They took his clothes, beat him up, and went off leaving him half-dead. Luckily, a priest was on his way down the same road, but when he saw him he angled across to the other side. Then a Levite religious man showed up; he also avoided the injured man.  “A Samaritan traveling the road came on him. When he saw the man’s condition, his heart went out to him. He gave him first aid, disinfecting and bandaging his wounds. Then he lifted him onto his donkey, led him to an inn, and made him comfortable. In the morning he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take good care of him. If it costs any more, put it on my bill—I’ll pay you on my way back.’  “What do you think? Which of the three became a neighbor to the man attacked by robbers?”  “The one who treated him kindly,” the religion scholar responded.

Jesus said, “Go and do the same.”

I have a friend who is always happy, and if you knew him you would think that this man never had a worry in his life.  But if you really knew him you would know that there was so much that he was struggling with in his life.  He is a christian, he loves the Lord, and he’s always up beat, beaming with joy, and other people would always say I wish I was so happy like him.  One day he did not come to work and I sent him a txt message with the scripture of the day from my devotional and a sentence saying, “I’m praying for you my Brother”.  The next day he began to tell me how unhappy he was and all what he was struggling with in life.  So we prayed and it was as if a huge weight was lifted off of him.  You know there are a lot of people in this world who need so much help.  If only we could just reach out with a simple prayer or an encouraging word we are serving.  This is the simplest form.  We know what Jesus said from his word in Matthew 20:28, “When the ten others heard about this, they lost their tempers, thoroughly disgusted with the two brothers. So Jesus got them together to settle things down. He said, “You’ve observed how godless rulers throw their weight around, how quickly a little power goes to their heads. It’s not going to be that way with you. Whoever wants to be great must become a servant. Whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave. That is what the Son of Man has done: He came to serve, not be served—and then to give away his life in exchange for the many who are held hostage.”  Let us serve others but from the heart, If God love us so much he sent his only son, in John 3:16, Jesus loves you as much too because he stretched out his arms for us, we should love others and want to help others from our Hearts.  Serve someone today from your heart.

Pray:  God thank you for your love, help me today so show love to others especially to those in need.  Open my eyes and my ears to see and hear the needs of others.  Amen!
