Shine Your Light!

Matthew 5:13-16 (MSG)

Salt and Light

“Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage.  “Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.

Every where I go i’m very observent of my sourroundings.  It never fails God always show me where there is need.  This need comes in many forms from monetary, to physical need, to emotional and eternal need.  I can see it and sometimes I wonder to myself, “God are you asking me to help”?  Last night we went to a local fun center here in town where it’s full of video games and bowling, lazer tag and so on.  This place was full of people, I mean so many where you were bumping into people.  We were with the kids and I had a blast in lazer tag, I was first place by the way.  But God was at work and I began to notice the faces of the people, there were people there who were tired, looks of fustrustation, and ofcorse those who were having fun.  I began to feel God moving me, and I said to God,”what can I do here God”?  I felt I could do nothing all by myself, how could I be a repersentive of God all alone.  God showed me, a huge youth group came in and this was a huge youth group and they were wearing their “Church Youth Group Shirt”.  I was like, “WOW! God called in the troops”.   I learned something yesterday I want to share with you today.  When you feel overwhelmed by large crowds or just the stuff of life, never forget to call on God. Psalms 57:3, “He sends from heaven and saves me”, you see we are the Light of the world and wehere ever we go we are to shine our light, the light of Christ that lives in our heart.  Today where every you go look for the needs in people God will send you as a reperesentive of Hope, Peace, Love, and Help.

Pray:  God help me today to shine my light where ever I go.  You have blessed me in my life, help me to be a blessing to others today.  Lead me to those who have needs.  Amen

Psalm 103:1-4 (NIV)

Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion.

The last couple of weeks I have been soul-searching and spending a lot of time in prayer with God.  I have been feeling as if I am not doing what I’m suppose to do.  A feeling of duty lost, I even came to the point of thinking to myself that I have totally failed God.  At work I have been so busy with my new project and have been feeling just lost in motion.  Then yesterday I realized that the enemy was just filing my mind with things that were not true.  I began to pray knowing what I was hearing was not true in my heart.  I told God on my knees with my hands stretched out to him that I love him and worship him only.  The Lord placed these verses on my heart.  You see David loved God, he was a man after God’s own heart.  As I read this it was clear to me.  There will always be outside things being said or done all around me.  But if I allow these things to be on my mind they will take over and I’m out for the count.  But you see David worshiped God with all of his strength and soul.  David gives his whole self to God.  He did not let his enemies that wanted to conquer Israel influence his relationship with God.  Today the rumors, the untruths, and all the things going on around us can never take us away from God’s Love for us.  As we see here David proclaims all the good things that come out of praising God.  All of God’s benefits, the one who forgives all of our sins, the one who heals all of our diseases, the one who redeems your life from the pit.  God is willing to come to us and take us away from all of that stuff that just surrounds us and that can be harmful to us.  Today Come to Jesus Give him your life.  Don’t let the enemy take the best of you.  Give your best to God He wants to love you.

Pray:  Oh my wonderful and precious God, you are worthy to be praised and I give you all of me.  Lord you love me your word tells me.  You want the best for me.  Today take my mind away from all the things around me and let me only focus on you, because you are all I need.  Today I worship your holy name you are my Shelter, my Rock, my Protection, my Salvation.  Thank you God for giving me life today.  It is you I live for.  Amen

Revelation 4:11(NLV)

“Our Lord and our God, it is right for You to have the shining-greatness and the honor and the power. You made all things. They were made and have life because You wanted it that way.”

You know I don’t know why God does the things he does in our life.  This morning my Uncle Joe passed away.  As I talked to my mom, which he was her brother, I sat on the floor and began to think and question God.  Mom was crying and my heart hurt for her.  Even now as I write my heart still reaches out to her.  I know he is in a better place.  But what stood out to me is the pain she feels losing her brother.  I don’t know that feeling and I never want to feel that pain, I love my brother and sister and pray for them always.  But as I sat the question remained, Why?  There is one thing that i know and have experienced on my Journey With God, is that God is good.  Psalm 13:6, “I will sing to the Lord, because He has been good to me”.   Psalm 16:2, “I will sing to the Lord, because He has been good to me”.  David experienced God’s goodness, and today I know and Believe that God is God.  Today, where ever you find yourself, know God is Good!  In Him you will find Peace, Refuge, Protection, Strength, and Love. When things change in our life know that God has you in the palm of his hand and there is nothing that can ever take you out.

Pray:  God today give me peace, refuge, protection, strength, and most of all Love.  I pray where I am now is going to help me grow for where your plan has me tomorrow.  Thank you for the plan you have for me, not to struggle but to have a future full of hope.  Amen!

Note:  Pray for my family, The Alvarez family for their loss.  Going to miss you Uncle Joe!

Learning To Trust In God!

Proverbs 3:5-6 (MSG)

5-12 Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own.  Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track.  Don’t assume that you know it all.   Run to God! Run from evil!  Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life!  Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best.  Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over.  But don’t, dear friend, resent God’s discipline; don’t sulk under his loving correction.  It’s the child he loves that God corrects; a father’s delight is behind all this.
You know I have always hear it said, “Trust in God!”  On many occasions I have said that myself to others.  I have heard “Have Faith in God!”  These statements are always good to say to others, and always good to hear them being said to you when stuff in life is tough.  But do we really believe it when we say it or when someone tells us these words how do we put them in practice in Our Journey With God?  Well as I read this verse it is clear in its points.  To trust God we have to do it from the bottom of our hearts.  And many times we try to do things on our own and on our own strength and it seems as if we are getting no where.  Paul tells us in Philippians 4:13, “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”  We cannot do it on our own we have to rely and trust on God with all our heart, that as we go through life He will walk along side us.  We must Listen to God’s voice, let him guide you, your decisions, at work, listen to God’s voice.  If you do that you can never go wrong cause he is guiding you.  We will never be smarter than God, and in all we must run to him and stay away from evil.  It’s plain to see in the Our Father verse in Matthew 6:9-13, “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us today our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.   And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”  When we are faithful to God in trusting in Him, He will bless us.  I write this today because my Son Timothy, and My Step-Son Armando are Going to school this fall.  I dedicate this blog to them to encourage them to put all their trust in God even when life gets tough.  Today I encourage you to Put all your trust in God.  As He walks with you on Your Journey with Him, let Him guide your every step.  Memorize this verse today this is how we Learn To Trust In God!
Pray:  God today guide me as I walk with you.  Help me in my everyday decisions I have to make, help me not to fear, but stand boldly knowing you are on my side.  God I love you and I thank you for you salvation through Jesus your Son.  Today give me a great day in love. Amen
