Proverb Saturday!

Proverbs 3:3(NIV)

“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck,  write them on the tablet of your heart”.

Love is a profoundly tender passionate affection for another person.  It’s a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection for someone.  Faithfulness is one who is true to one’s word, promises, vows, and someone who is reliable, trusted, and believed.  The Proverbs today is telling us that these two thing are important for our life.  How true is this, we live in a world where you have to keep watch of your Identity, thieves come and will steal your very own personal information.   Love and Faithfulness the Proverbs tell us to bind them around our neck and write them on the tablet of your heart”.  Let me say that God is Loving and He is so Faithful, He will never leave you.  Deuteronomy 31:6, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”  Today, let Love and Faithfulness never leave you!  Trust in God and He will never leave you too.

Pray:  My Heavenly Father, thank you for your promise of never leaving us.  Help me today and everyday have a heart full of Love and Faithfulness.  Let me share that with someone who needs love and faithfulness.  Thank you for your never-ending Love and Faithfulness.  Amen!

A Fresh Start With God!

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)
17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

Are you looking for a “Fresh Start”?  When we think of new starts we think of New Years Day.  Its that time when we make or annual resolutions because we want to change, but because we are doing it on our own it fizzles out really fast.  The bible says in Philippians 4:13, ” For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength”.  In that if we belong to Christ and our old self is gone.  Everyday is a new start with God if you have allowed Christ in your heart. God gives you new beginnings everyday, take hold of all the blessings he gives.  Lamentations 3:23,  “Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin fresh each morning”.  Today,  we start new, accept that we fall short of the Glory of God, believe in Jesus, that he died for you and raised from the dead, confessing your sins, and let God be first in your life.

Pray:  God thank you for “new starts” and the blessings you give us.  Today give me a brand new start in you.

Psalm 139:1-16 (MSG)

Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother’s womb. I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking!  Body and soul, I am marvelously made!  I worship in adoration—what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something.  Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day.
You know the world thinks it knows what’s beautiful  and what’s not.  There are so-called fashion shows that tell you how you should dress. There are shows that makes fun of what famous people wear on the red carpet. The world says were unlovable, the world says were unworthy, because of what some people believe . People have done bad things in their life that they think God will never forgive them.   Really who cares!  To be honest, You Are Beautiful! Yea, the world has a set of standards, but that doesn’t matter.  You want to know what God says, because of the cross and Christ, you have hope, you have value, you are wonderfully made.  All we need is Jesus.  Today remember, we are Beautiful in Gods eyes!
Pray:  Father in heaven thank you thank you for your encouraging word.  Thank you for your love.  Thank you for making me beautiful.  Amen!

Liturgical-Worship – “Lent” Pray for Persecuted Christians!

1 Peter 4:14-16(MSG)

If you’re abused because of Christ, count yourself fortunate. It’s the Spirit of God and his glory in you that brought you to the notice of others. If they’re on you because you broke the law or disturbed the peace, that’s a different matter. But if it’s because you’re a Christian, don’t give it a second thought. Be proud of the distinguished status reflected in that name!

Today my heart is heavy for those Brothers and Sisters in Christ who are persecuted for doing God’s work.  God has called these people to spread the Gospel in their hometowns and it is against the law to do so.  Here in the United States we hardly see this because of the freedoms we have as American citizens.  But These people are out there and they need our prayer.  During this time of Lent let us pray for our brothers and sister who are being killed and put in prison for gathering together to worship God!  Follow this link http://www.persecution.com/public/homepage.aspx?clickfrom=bWFpbl9tZW51

Pray:  God thank you for protecting me and allowing me to worship you freely.  But I lift up those to you who live in places where this is against the law.  Heavenly Father  bless my brothers and sisters with freedom like I have so they can worship you freely.  Protect them and their family members and the members of their church’s. Amen!

Don’t Let Sin Come In!

Romans 8:5-8 (MSG)
Those who think they can do it on their own will end up obsessed with measuring their own moral muscle but never get around to exercising it in the real life. Those who trust God’s action in them find that God’s Spirit is in them—living and breathing God! Obsession with self in these matters is a dead-end; attention, God leads us out into the open, into a spacious, free life. Focusing on the self, is the opposite of focusing on God. Anyone completely absorbed in self ignores God, ends up thinking more about self than God. That person ignores who God is and what he is doing. And God isn’t pleased at being ignored.

I have always wanted a swimming pool in my backyard.  They are so cool on a hot day, great for family gatherings, oh, and my favorite, BBQ’s. I remember a friend who had a cement pool built.  When you have a cement pool built you have to make sure it’s completely sealed, and that no water will leak out.  Needles to say, there were problems with his pool. Water found its way through small cracks and leaks, and the pool broke.  This is like our soul.  If we allow just a little bit of sin to come into our life, it can eventually lead us to bondage and death. Jesus came to die for our sins and to break away the chains of sin. I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to live your life bound to sin.  Romans 2:12, “if you sin without knowing what you’re doing, God takes that into account. But if you sin knowing full well what you’re doing, that’s a different story entirely. Merely hearing God’s law is a waste of your time if you don’t do what he commands. Doing, not hearing, is what makes the difference with God”.  Today, don’t let sin hold you back from receiving God’s full blessings for you.  Ephesians 1:3, ” Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ”.

Pray:  Thank you God for the salvation you give so freely to us.  Because we are a sinful people we do not deserve your gift.  But you love us, help us today to not let sin come into my life.  Help me to rely fully on you everyday. Amen!

You Are In God’s Hands!

Psalm 91:1-2(NIV)
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress,  my God, in whom I trust.”

When I read this scripture I see two things, protection and provision.  Sometimes life is really hard and we go through so many struggles.  As we go through this time of Lent, that doesn’t change how we feel.    Why do we feel this way?  Because the enemy tries to remind us of our past and all the things we have done.  We feel open and unprotected but David gives us hope.  If we remain in God’s shelter he gives us rest and protection.  John 15:5, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing”.  If we continue having faith in God through the toughfest times, we will be able to say like King David, ” I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”  Today, trust in God with all your heart, and when the enemy comes to remind you of your past, remind him of his future.  You are a child of God Almighty, and you are in his hands.  Psalm 108:6, “Save us and help us with your right hand, that those you love may be delivered”.

Pray: God thank you for your hand of protection over me and my family.  I want to remain  faithful to you, help me when satan comes to remind me of my past help me to stay focused on you. Amen!

Saturday Proverb, Proverbs 19:11

Proverbs 19:11 (NIV)

11 A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.

I have seen God do many great things “On My Journey With Him”.  I have seen Him change lives in front of my own eyes.  People who were lost and with no direction in life have a total change of mind, a total change in actions, a total change in the way they live, which was a result of a total change in their Heart.  Jesus came in to live and they put all their trust in God, turned their life over to Him and in that wonderful result their lives were changed for the better.  Every time I saw God in this way I saw a true picture of Forgiveness.  You see we are all sinners, Romans 3:23, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”.   I am a sinner, but because I have asked Christ to be my personal Savior, He lives in my heart.  At my work some one was upset and they took their anger on me.  And I could have returned the favor of unkindness but I chose not to sin.  In that I learned patience and put into practice love.  Remember 1 Corinthians, “If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.  If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.  If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.  Love never fails…. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love”.  Today, forgive those who are against you, let us “Over Come Evil With GOOD!

Pray:  God, thank you for living in my life, guiding my life, and directing my steps.  It is you who takes care of me, even when I’m difficult.  Shape my life in the way you want it, to be.  I’m a sinner and I need your forgiveness everyday.  Thank you for you forgiveness you give so freely, and help me to forgive others.  In this teach me patience.  Amen!

Fruit of the Spirit, What Does Your Garden Grow!

Galatians 5:22-25(NIV)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.  Since we live by the Spirit, let us step in with the Spirit”.

Over the last few days we have been talking about The Fruit of the Spirit, love, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control during Lent.  These Fruits are important in our lives because we need love, we need joy, we need peace, and so on.  We need them on “Our Journey With God”  We  also need them in our lives.  Today I want to encourage you to embrace these wonderful blessings that God has given to us.  With all of these blessings and including Salvation, above all. we should be encouraged.  1 Thessalonians 5:14, “And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone”.  God calls us to a high calling in Love.  If the spirit lives in us, let us keep in step with the spirit.  Today I encourage you to pray for someone  who needs a touch from God.  Listen to the needs of others and let God move you to help.  If you allow God to move in you, he will lead you to those in need.  Ask yourself “What Does Your Garden Grow”?  Lets love, and encourage others today!

Pray:  Dear God, today use me in a mighty way to help others and encourage someone  who needs your touch.  Help me to shine in the light of Jesus where ever I go.  Amen!

Fruit of the Spirit, Gentleness and Self-Control!

Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

As I reflect on Jesus this morning, I put myself in his shoes and I thought to myself how frustrated I  would be if the devil was tempting me.. I would not be so “Gentle” nor would I have “Self-control.  Jesus had all of this, and the spirit wants us to have this as well.  But its hard to always be gentle, proverbs 16:32, “Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city”.  Sometimes I want to “take on the city”.  God’s word always reminds me, Matthew 5:5, “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth”.  Today, lets be Gentle meek in spirit, humble in our attitude.  My work is fast paste and its easy to get caught up in the mix of it . Yesterday I had lunch with an old friend of mine, and in talking with him, I didnt realized how sick he was. The Holy Spirit, at that moment filled my heart with gentleness for him. As you seek to be gentle today, ask God to fill you with his gentleness.

Pray:  God fill me with your gentleness and don’t let everyday stuff steal your joy.  Amen.
